Tandi Spencer-Smith

Sector Development Lead

Tandi Spencer-Smith is a dedicated conservationist and environmental writer who is passionate about working with communities to create a nature positive future.

She has over a decade of experience in senior leadership rolesin regional, national and international organisations in the conservation and restoration sector, with broad skills across a range of areas. These include developing and managing complex environmental projects, science communications, business and sector development, strategic partnerships, community engagement andoperations.

In her last role as Head of Programs, Partnerships & Communications for Great Eastern Ranges (GER), she was pivotal to the development and management of all the organisation’s large-landscape conservation programs, strategic, conservation and business planning, and significantlyexpanding GER’s partner network. She is known for building strong and impactfulpartnerships across different sectors and supporting and supporting localpartners, communities and First Nations groups with on-ground efforts.  

Tandi has served as a lead author, co-author and editor of multiple publications, discussion papers and key recommendation documents, and contributed towards the development of global and local conservation and restoration guidelines.

She is an active member of IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas, Commission on Communication and Education, and IUCN Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group.
