WHY LUTRUWITA/TASMANIA

More than conference destination.

From ancient forests and rugged coastlines to globally significant biodiversity and innovative conservation initiatives, Lutruwita offers conference delegates a destination deeply connected to the theme of nature-climate action.

Home to remarkable wildlife, iconic landscapes, rich culture and heritage, world-class food and wine, and of course – unforgettable outdoor adventures, you’ll want to extend your stay and experience Tassie’s extraordinary natural beauty and sense of place.

A compelling & collaborative land conservation story.

A significant share of Lutruwita biodiversity occurs outside public reserves, creating space and necessity for non-government actors to lead in land conservation. A highly active network of private landholders, land trusts, First Nations groups, landcare groups and other community-led organisations in Lutruwita protects, manages and restores nature across the state. This work secures important habitats, delivers flexible management approaches, and provides standout cases for how land conservaiton on private and non government-managed land contributes to strong nature-climate action.

It has been 10 years since the ALCA Conference was last convened in Lutruwita, and we're thrilled to once again convene our sector here.

We acknowledge Palawa/Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the original owners of Lutruwita/Tasmania. The 2026 ALCA Conference will take place at Nipaluna - the country at and around Hobart, the country of the Muwinina people.
