Australia has built one of the world's largest and most diverse protected area systems through the leadership of First Nations peoples, governments, NGOs, private landholders and communities. Australia is recognised globally as a leader in land conservation, with innovative models of stewardship, partnership, and long-term protection helping to shape conservation practice around the world, whilst also demonstrating the scale of ambition and collaboration still needed to meet the challenges ahead.
