The proposed amendments to significant reversals in the Nature Repair Rules will create risks and additional burden for project proponents.
The blunt approach proposed in the amendment to the rules relating to significant reversals will not be appropriate for all methods and projects under the Nature Repair Market. It will not allow for temporary, minor, and/or natural fluctuations in one or more indicators, and as such will result in frequent and inappropriate notification and potentially relinquishment requirements. A more tailored, method-specific approach is required to avoid this.
