ALCA strongly supports the exploration of more strategic approaches to manage cumulative impacts and improve community consultation regarding approvals processes under the EPBC Act.
The Bioregional Plan would benefit by have a ‘living document’ component (such as an interactive tool), where cumulative impact assessments are regularly updated by mapping approved developments including the assessment of likely impacts and conditions, as well as real-time changes in MNES and current threats based on available government datasets. Proposals under consideration should also be mapped.
