Submission on the draft Enhancing Native Vegetation Method under the Nature Repair Market

July 29, 2026

The draft Enhancing Native Vegetation method provides a generally sound basis to enable enhancement and protection of many native ecosystems across eastern and southern Australia. However, further consideration of method settings is needed to reduce complexity and support participation, while also ensuring appropriate method integrity safeguards are adequate and appropriate.

Our submission identifies several elements of the draft method that require further consideration. These include:

  • Reducing method complexity, particularly for the ecosystem assessment and monitoring requirements
  • Increasing the extent to which climate change is incorporated in the method, particularly projects with 100-year permanence period
  • Requiring offset-capable projects to have an on-title security in place to ensure the endure for the long-term
  • Improving the differentiation of scores for legal or other effective protection or conservation
  • Undertaking an early review of the remit of the Suitably Qualified Person to ensure integrity safeguards are working as intended.

More details are available in our full submission.
