Submission on the Future of Victoria's State Forests

January 12, 2025

ALCA's submission advocates for the protected area estate in Victoria’s state forests to be expanded to help meet state, national and Australia's international obligations.

Noting that protected areas are demonstrably a major driver of regional tourism and associated economic activity, ALCA's submission advocates that the protected area estate in Victoria's state forests be expanded to help meet its state, national and Australia's international obligations to '30 by 30'. If this is not done with National Parks, then other suitable categories could include nature conservation reserves and conservation parks.
