If reforestation and regeneration are to drive carbon sequestration, Australia’s tax system must support private landholders restoring the environment.
There is an important opportunity for the Report to identify the opportunities for Nature-based Solutions to support the heavy lifting that will be expected of the land sector and nature to sequester carbon and contribute to net zero.
This includes not penalising landholders under Australia's tax settings for engaging in environmental restoration activities. These activities should be actively supported and subsidised.
