Annual Report FY21/22

November 29, 2022

2021–22 was a transitional year for ALCA from a smaller coordinating body to a more mature peak organisation. It was marked by growth in capacity, influence and a clearer strategic mandate.

Building and growing our impact

With most threatened species on privately managed land, conservation cannot succeed without landholders, community groups and NGOs. This year’s progress laid the groundwork for a coordinated, capable national movement able to influence policy, unlock investment and amplify on‑ground impact at scale.

Highlights

ALCA expanded from a team of one to four - enabling a step‑change in our influence, coordination and advocacy.

We delivered two major national events: the 2021 Private Land Conservation Summit and the 2022 Private Land Conservation Conference, which attracted nearly 700 participants.

We launched ALCA’s 2030 Strategy, creating a clear national agenda for protecting and restoring nature on privately managed land.

We strengthened government relationships through more than 50 engagements and 22 formal policy submissions, helping secure commitments on biodiversity targets, carbon market rules, and national biosecurity reforms.
